April 17, 2012:
Received notice today that TU&EU has been awarded BEST ENSEMBLE CAST and BEST DIRECTION for the Winter 2012 Series at the Asians On Film Festival based in Los Angeles (USA). TU&EU is the only film to have won two categories and now in contention for the BEST OF 2012. Congratulations to my talented – and mostly Non-Asian cast.

March 20, 2012:
TU&EU screening at the NewFilmmakers Series in LA. This is the first time Daniela Ruah (CBS/NCIS:LA) gets a chance to see the film in a theater environment. We had to plan this evening ahead in hopes of her wrapping for the day early enough to make it by 6PM. The caveat was on that particular day, instead of shooting at Paramount which is quite close to Gower Studios, NCIS:LA was shooting farther north of the valley. Dani would have to also make it thru “LA Rush Hour” unscathed. But lo’ and behold, she was already there to greet me with a smiling headlock. For the sake of imagination, let’s just assume she was still in character, as Kensi Blye, to make it in record time. Fine by me. After the screening, we joined friends to grab a burger at The Bowery on Sunset where Dani/Kensi was shooting bad guys with her Glock on TV. Coincidence?

Daniela and I during the Q&A politely waiting for the young woman/filmmaker/actress finish talking about herself for the duration. Actually, everyone waited…

How old friends greet each other.
October 21, 2011:
Honored to be apart of the limited selection of FINALIST from the Asian American International Film Festival of New York Cinevision for the New York Times Asian Heritage Network Short Film Festival. TU & EU will again be screening with this year’s NYAAIFF winner “Scumbag, Pervert, and The Girl In Between” by writer-director Bruce Hwang. We also screened together at the Academy® Qualifier Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Tokyo, Japan. Looking forward to this private screening…
October 14, 2011:
Very happy to announce TU&EU has been short-listed for the PEER RABEN MUSIC AWARD for Best Music in a short film at the 8th SoundTrack Music Festival in Cologne, Germany. This is a major confirmation for my talented dear friend and composer Steven von Kampen who was never-ending in his composition for our second film together – and by far with more wisdom than the first. The story here is lies within the journey we took together to finalize this score. And I’m both thrilled and relieved that Steven can gain some recognition for his talent. TU&EU will screen before the jury on November 5th in Koln… Also credited for this nomination is our award-winning Sound Designer and Re-Mixer, Mark Kondracki, of OutLoudAudio!
September 21 2011:
Please to announce TU&EU as a SEMI-FINALIST at the 6th NBCUniversal Short Cuts Film Festival. We are one of eight films to screen at the new SVA Theatre on 23rd Street in New York, NY. I was particularly overwhelmed by one film while laughing to tears over another. Another highlight: co-star Ato Essandoh’s Best Actor nomination.
It’s a personal victory to have both my leads to have been nominated for Best Actress (Daniela Ruah at Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia) and Best Actor here at NBCUniversal. It means that, as a director, I’m doing something right
Here I’m with Comedian Host MC, JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) who did an amazing job navigating us thru the eight films. He pretty much tore up the full house all night as well as our film’s title…
August 06 2011:
TU&EU a selected FINALIST at the 6th Edition NociCortinCinema International Film Festival in Noci, Italy. I hope to visit this beautiful city one day or with another film.
June 18, 22, 24, 2011:
TU&EU a selected FINALIST at Academy® Qualifier 12th Annual Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia of Tokyo, Japan, where I was invited to participate as guest filmmaker along with other exceptionally talented filmmakers from Brazil, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, France, India, Iran, Ireland, Jordan, Korea, Portugal, Taiwan, Japan itself, and the USA (from NYC and LA). All building relationships while vying for the Grand Prix. This was by far one of the best festival and travel experiences I’ve had thus far. The Japanese are so gracious and humbling, it gave such new insight about their people and culture particularly after this small island had just suffered a triple national disaster: an earthquake, a tsunami, and thus a nuclear incident. I hope to have another opportunity to return here especially with another film.
May 29, 2011:
TU&EU a selected FINALIST at Academy® Qualifier USA Festival of Dallas, Texas. This was a very nice surprise.
